Chennai-headquartered eye care chain Dr. Agarwal’s Health Care is planning to expand its international footprint into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, starting with initial facilities in the UAE. According to CEO Adil Agarwal, although the company is actively evaluating the market. Chairman Amar Agarwal emphasized that the GCC presents a strong economic opportunity backed by an established patient base from the region, complementing the company's broader global expansion which includes new centers across African nations like Ethiopia and Nigeria.

Currently it operates 19 hospitals in nine countries in Africa including Kenya and Mauritius. About 10% of its revenue comes from overseas. The company is gearing up for a massive expansion, targeting opening of an additional 500 centres across India and abroad. This would take the total number of facilities from 310 at present to 800 over the next five years according to the Chairman.
